# How to Fix Clerk Auth Errors: System Clock Sync Solution

**Are you struggling with** `currentUser()` returning `null` or unexpected redirects in your Next.js/Clerk app? The solution might be simpler than you think!

## **🔍 The Problem**

When using Clerk for authentication, you might encounter:

```javascript
# Error 1: Null user with currentUser()
const user = await currentUser(); // Returns null despite being signed in
# Error 2: Restricted sign-in access
"The <SignIn/> component cannot when a user is already signed in"
```

These often occur due to **time synchronization issues** between your system and Clerk's servers.

## **🛠️ The Fix (3 Steps)**

### **1\. Sync Your System Clock**

**Windows:**

1. Press `Win + I` → "Time & Language"

2. Toggle "Set time automatically" **OFF → ON**

3. Click "Sync now"

## **💡 Why This Works**

Clerk uses JWT tokens with strict time validation (`nbf` claims). Even a **1-2 minute clock skew** can cause:

* Token rejection

* Session mismatches

* Unexpected redirects
